Moove Green

At Bannister Downs, we are continually trying to reduce our impact on our clean, green farming environment as well as on a much larger scale, our planet.

Bannister Downs’ energy source for our dairy and processing facility is LPG gas (bulk tank on site), and the small amount of electricity that we use is part of Synergy’s Earth Friendly Progamme.

We are excited to be in the process of converting all of our distribution vehicles to bio-diesel a wonderful initiative and a huge saving for carbon emissions.

Clearly our packaging choice (Ecolean), is the best available internationally as far as sustainability goes.

Buy Bannister Downs - the green choice!

We have chosen to use re-cyclable cardboard cartons in preference to plastic milk crates to ship our products, and many of our customers are happy to become part of our re-use system, where we collect and re-cycle the cartons.

We have managed to source through our local supplier, a European Shrink wrap that is bio-degradable (wrapping pallets for shipment) and we are currently looking at options to replace the small amount of plastic that we use (eg. plastic pails for our cream supplied to restaurants/cafes), as it is a focus in our company to seek sustainable options where-ever possible.

We are about to embark on the process of auditing our business in terms of carbon emissions and seeking to establish offsets to remove our impact on the environment 100%.

We have learned a lot more about sustainability in the time we have been developing our business and this is largely due to the wonderful, enthusiastic people of companies that we work with.

Ecolean packaging solutions

Our customer, Little Creatures Brewery of Fremantle, is a Western Australian company taking the initiative to establish a Little Green Steps programme – the sole focus of which is to seek sustainability. www.littlecreatures.com.au

There are many other businesses making the choice to prioritise sustainable options over other factors that determine selection of products. We are pleased with the growing number of people that are willing to make changes for the benefit of our future generations.
