Bannister Downs Farm is the first milk processing facility in the Southern Hemisphere to use the Ecolean packaging system. Imported from Sweden, this system is at the forefront of environmentally sustainable packaging.
So why is our Ecolean pouch the ultimate environmentally friendly packaging?
- Comprised mainly of chalk (calcium carbonate, derived from limestone - an unlimited resource) with a binding agent for flexibility, it is completely photo-degradable. No toxic gases are emitted during the manufacturing of ecolean film and the process uses minimal water, the most previous resource of all.
- The Ecolean pouch minimises landfill with its empty 'flattened form' and is completely degradable in the presence of light. The pouch can also be safely burnt in a wood stove or over a campfire as it emits NO toxic gases when burnt.
- The quality of our fresh milk is optimised by being packaged in our Ecolean pouch. The pouch itself is non-penetratable by UV light and maintains its product 'coolness' due to the pouch's natural composition. When kept at or below 4 degrees your milk will stay fresh for even longer.
- As an increased convenience, the sealed Ecolean Pouch will not leak when laid down on a fridge shelf, can be frozen when sealed, and microwaved safely once the seal is broken.
